New York

November 6-10, 2026

Dear Friends,

Every November the light leaves New York a little too quickly. I hope you’ll catch some of it with me.

That’s what this season is about: the places that matter most are the ones we can’t forget. I’m in New York for five days to explore that idea with you, through craft, conversation and quiet hours together. Below is where you’ll find me.

With warmth from the studio,

MONDAY · NOVEMBER 9

12:00–12:45 PM · BDNY Panel: THE NEW ART OF BELONGING
How Design, Hospitality & Culture Shape Modern Luxury

In a time of artificial intelligence and algorithmic everything, the most valuable thing we can design is still a human one: belonging. I’ll join Hiromi Murayama (Marriott), Thomas Ventura (Gensler) and Emmanuel Nieves (Boston Architectural College), with Bashar Wali of This Assembly moderating. We’ll look at how culture, craft and care create belonging, and how that feeling drives rate, loyalty and lasting value. I’ll be speaking about neuroaesthetics, cultural intelligence and designing for emotional memory.

A Private Hour in New York
After the fair I’m staying on in the city for three days of private meetings. They’re for developers, hospitality owners and operators, brand leaders, family offices and cultural institutions, and for anyone with a project that should feel more like a place than a product.

We could start a new commission, work on a branded residence, talk about a collaboration, or have a first sitting of Atelier over coffee.

→ Book Tuesday, November 10
→
Book Wednesday, November 11
→
Book Thursday, November 12

Hours are limited and held in confidence.

ATELIER BY MÉLANIE MURATA
Studio time, held in the manner of the Italian atelier.

The panel covers belonging in 45 minutes. In Atelier I teach it closely. It’s my private mentorship program for designers who want to learn what design school leaves out: how to read a culture, how to design for the senses, and how to carry a vision from first sketch to finished detail.
